Description of Institution:
The University of Delaware has grown from its founding as a small private academy in 1743 to a major university and is one of the oldest land-grant institutions. Delaware sits in the heart of the mid-Atlantic seaboard, halfway between Washington, DC and New York City. The University's signature program is the Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management.

Travel Directions:
By Air: Philadelphia International Airport. The airport is about 50 minutes to the University of Delaware. Shuttle to and from the airport can be made with Delaware Express at 302.454.7800.
By Car:
From the north: Take I-95 South to Delaware Exit 1-B; Route 896 North. Continue straight approximately two miles on Route 896 North (past Fred P. Rullo Stadium, the Bob Carpenter/Sports Convocation Center, Delaware Stadium, and the Delaware Field House), which becomes South College Avenue. Turn left into Visitors Parking Lot #41 (adjacent to the Visitors Center).
From the south: Take I-95 North to Delaware Exit 1; Route 896 North. Continue straight approximately two miles on Route 896 North (past Fred P. Rullo Stadium, the Bob Carpenter/Sports Convocation Center, Delaware Stadium, and the Delaware Field House), which becomes South College Avenue. Turn left into Visitors Parking Lot #41 (adjacent to the Visitors Center).
From the west: Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike East to Route 283 South. Continue on Route 283 South, which becomes Route 30 East outside of Lancaster, to Route 896 South. As you reach campus and cross the railroad tracks, immediately turn left onto Delaware Avenue and right (at the second traffic light) onto South College Avenue. Continue straight on South College Avenue to Visitors Parking Lot #41. Turn right into Visitors Parking Lot #41 (adjacent to the Visitors Center).
Housing:
The Summer Institute will take place in the Courtyard by Marriott located on the campus of the University of Delaware. Participants are encouraged to stay at the Marriott or there are rooms available in dormitories located on campus. We have negotiated rates for the on campus at the Courtyard and in the Dorms. There are several hotels within walking distance to the campus. Participants wishing to stay off campus will need to make arrangements to get to the Courtyard Hotel. Participants should contact the hotels or Dormitory directly to make reservations.
